Medusa • Once a beautiful women in Greece. • Poseidon falls in love and takes her to temple to Athena. • Athena gets mad and turns her hair into snakes and makes her so ugly, anybody who looks at her is turned to stone. Medusa

Hydra • The Hydra was a nine headed monster with poisenes breath. • Its breath was strong enough to kill a man. • Nothing is safe when it is around. • If you cut of one head another grows back. • Some people die of fright from seeing the monster. • Hercules killed by cut its head off and the singing it. • It has 1 immortal head that always grows back. Hydra

Cerberus • Three headed dog with a snake tail. • He is the guard dog to the underworld. • He will let anyone enter. • Any one who tries to leave gets eaten by him. • He is impossible to sneak past with his keen hearing and seeing. Cerberus

Chimaera • Lion and goat head, goat hind legs, dragon tail. • It vomits flames. • It is swift footed and strong. • He is immortal. • No man made weapon can harm him. Chimaera

Harpy • They are the 3 winged spirits of death with the face of a women and body of a vulture. • They shriek peck and nag. • They are relentless tormentors and spoil everything they touch with their filth. • Were sent to capture anyone who was unwilling to die. Harpy

Sirens • Had the head of a beautiful women and body of a bird. • Hearing the tune of their song, some sailors crash their ships. • Their island seems sun bleached when approaching, but is really bones of old sailors. Fated to die when sailor passes unharmed that heard. Siren

Sphinx • Head of women, body of lion, and wings of an eagle. • Demon of death, destruction, and bad luck. • Gave riddle to all young men who tried to enter. • Riddle was, “ What walks on 4 legs in the morning, 2 at noon, and 3 in the evening. • Answer was a man. Sphinx

Minotaur • Has body of man and head of bull. • Born when king Minos did not sacrifice a bull to the gods. • He ordered Deadalus to build labyrinth under the castle to put the minotaur in. it was so complex, he could not escape. • Human victims were forced into the maze as sacrifices. • Theseus slayed it with the help of Adriane. Minotaur

Scylla • 6 serpent heads, dogs at waist, 100 meters long. • Lives in a narrow straight next to charybdis. • once beautiful until Circe turned into a monster. • Rises from seas and eats sailors trying to avoid Charybdis. • Hundreds died until Hercules killed with club Scylla

Cyclopes • Giants with one huge eye in the middle of their forehead. • Were created by Gaea. • Thrown onto Tartarus by Cronus. • Zeus released them and as a gift of thanks, they made him thunderbolts. • Zeus used these thunderbolts to defeat Cronus. Cyclopes

The Hecatoncheires • 3 of them, all with 100 arms and 50 heads. • Created by Cronus and Gaea. • Brothers of Titans and Cyclopes. • Were also thrown into Tartarus for looks. • Zeus released and they helped him defeat the Titans. Hecatoncheires

Geryon • Had 3 heads and 2 legs. • He lived on Erytheia. • Hercules killed him to get his oxen. • Getting his oxen was one of Hercules's labors. • He then brought the oxen back to Eurystheus. Geryon
