  1. Space Research By: Hunter Burt

  2. When was Apollo 11 and what country was it launched. • My major event is Apollo 11 and it was launched in July, 16 1969.

  3. What were the names of the astronauts that flew on Apollo 11. • Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr.

  4. What mission was it apart. • It was apart of the apollo mission.

  5. What was the purpose of the exploration. • To land on the moon.

  6. Where there any complications during the exploration. • The Apollo 11 mission succeeded in landing on the moon despite two computer-related problems that affected the Lunar Module during the powered descent. An uncorrected problem in the rendezvous radar interface stole approximately 13% of the computer's duty cycle, resulting in five program alarms and software restarts. In a less well-known problem, caused by erroneous data, the thrust of the LM's descent engine fluctuated wildly because the throttle control algorithm was only marginally stable. The explanation of these problems provides an opportunity to describe the operating system of the Apollo flight computers and the lunar landing guidance software.

  7. List five other interesting facts. • Lovell, Anders and Haise. After Bill Anders left NASA to become Executive Secretary for the National Aeronautics and Space Council, Ken Mattingly replaced him on the backup crew that eventually became prime crew for Apollo 13.t. Apollo 10 and Apollo 11 were the only two Apollo missions flown with all-experienced crewmen. The next time an all-experienced crew flew was STS-26 in 1988. • Active Seismic Experiment. Flown on Apollo 11 only, EASEP contained an abbreviated package of experiments and was powered by solar energy. It returned data for 71 days.

  8. List five other interesting facts. • Ron Evans later flew on Apollo 17 as the Command Module Pilot. Charlie Duke was the landing CapCom, Bruce McCandless was the EVA CapCom and Owen Garriott was the Post-EVA CapCom. Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin were both in the Air Force, and Neil Armstrong was a civilian.
