  1. Holding The Contractor to 105% of the Target Spread Rate!

  2. 330-2.2 Minimum Process Control Testing Requirements: 5. Monitor the mix spread rate at the beginning of each day’s production, and as needed to control the operations, at a minimum of once per 200 tons placed to ensure that the spread rate is within 5% of the target spread rate. When determining the spread rate, use an average of five truckloads of mix. If the Contractor fails to maintain the construction process in accordance with the quality control requirements herein stated, the Engineer may elect to stop the construction operation at any time until the deficiencies are corrected.

  3. 334-7 Method of Measurement. 334-7 Method of Measurement. For the work specified under this Section (including the pertinent provisions of Sections 320 and 330), the quantity to be paid for will be the weight of the mixture, in tons. The pay quantity will be based on the project average spread rate, excluding overbuild, limited to a maximum of 105% of the spread rate determined in accordance with 334-1.4 or as set by the Engineer. The project average spread rate is calculated by totaling the arithmetic mean of the average daily spread rate values for each layer.

  4. 337-11 Method of Measurement. 337-11 Method of Measurement. For the work specified under this Section (including the pertinent provisions of Sections 320 and 330), the quantity to be paid for will be the weight of the mixture, in tons. The pay quantity will be based on the project average spread rate, limited to a maximum of 105% of the spread rate determined in accordance with 337-8 or as set by the Engineer. The project average spread rate is calculated by totaling the arithmetic mean of the average daily spread rate values for each layer.

  5. We are not doing Arithmetic Mean but we are holding the Contractor to 105% of the set target spread rate and making a line item deduction for any tonnage over 105% of target spread rate, after the pay item is complete! The Certification of Quantities do not need be corrected, but Fuel and Bit. will need to reflect final pay.
