Challenges • Renewable energy projects are taking longer – many reasons • Planning, public objections & global economic crisis • Plan B options being developed for each community… • Administrative challenges – liquidated damages, subcontracting & audits – and managing expectations within a large consortium • Targets – 1 year extension requested

  6. Technical successes • Technical - near completion on all energy efficiency projects • Building retrofits • System improvements • Smart metering • Energy management/ behavioural change • R & D = battery storage • Support tools e.g. energy master planning

  7. Social successes • 3 * observer communities replicating • Irish Sustainable Energy Communities Programme • Community engagement

  8. Next steps • Contract extension is pre-requisite • Focus on completion of all buildings • Increase renewables • Monitoring and dissemination • Administration • Contract amendment and related issues
