  1. The Journey of a water drop through a plant By: Sarah Jayyousi G 8B

  2. Introduction • Water is one of the most important factor to keep humans alive and even animals. And plants are just like humans and animal they need water to live. And the water has a process to enter the plant in order for it to feed it and give it nutrition.

  3. The Journey begins here! • The Stages There are four main stages through this journey. It first moves from the ground up to the roots. The water then moves straight up the stem. Then the water enters the leaves. After the water enters the leaves the water would have to get out.

  4. Step 1 • The water enters the plant from the soil and to the roots. The roots absorb the water. Also on the roots there are some hairs which trap the water inside the plant. These hairs need to be close in order for the roots to trap the water. Once the water enters the root it will spread the water and will eventually reach the xylem.

  5. Step 2 • Xylem is the part of the plant that carries the water to the rest of the plant. When the water has reached to Xylem it then takes the water up to the plant. Phloem is next to Xylem but phloem transports glucose to the rest of the plant.

  6. Step 3 • Water travels up with the xylem roots as they pass through the chloroplasts. Chloroplast is where photosynthesis happens and are located in Palisade cells. After that the water leaves through the stomata in the leaf. The stomata then exchanges water with gas.

  7. Step 4 • When the water enters the leaves photosynthesis happens. Photosynthesis only happens in day time because of the sunlight. Once photosynthesis is done. Water has to move out of the leaf and into the sky this is because of respiration.
