  1. What You Should Know About The Dot Test tananet.net/what-you-should-know-about-the-dot-test EricJones Recently there has been a lot of media attention given to the new DOT (Department of Transportation) alcohol and drug test policy. The DOT has officially issued clear guidelines for testing. An individual who receives a traffic citation must be given a mandatory drug test before a judge decides the case. A driver may also be required to undergo a drug test prior to hiring, and randomly every 12 months of his or her employment. If an individual receives a traffic citation, the judge will request that the individual submit to drug testing before the judge decides the case. The judge is concerned about the possibility of substance abuse. It would be extremely unfair to subject these individuals to drug testing and unfair to the individuals that are being ticketed. Therefore, the DOT drug testing rules have been proposed to prevent this type of discrimination. However, some wonder how this could be prevented. The answer lies in the way that mobile health clinics operate. The option of mobile drug testing program The Mobile Drug Testing Program was created in an effort to reduce racial discrimination. Mobile health clinics are primarily used by minority drivers. Many of these clinics are located in inner-city neighborhoods. The majority of drivers that come to these facilities are people that have poor credit histories. People that do not have good credit histories are often people that have had financial problems in the past. The majority of people that do not have good credit histories do not have proof of insurance, which is one of the reasons why they are driving around in a car with a suspended license. In order for the Mobile Drug Testing program to work effectively, it requires that a person complete the drug screening process before the clinic can administer the drug test. The person is also required to bring something with them that can be used for the drug test. This would be like a sample vial or bottle of urine or saliva. If the person completes the process and brings this item with them, it allows the staff to test the substance immediately. The staff member then administers the drug test. Once the drug test is administered, it is immediately discarded. How long does these drug tests take? The entire process only takes about ten minutes. In many cases, drivers do not even have to spend a couple of hours at the facility. Instead, they may just need to get some transportation or decide that it is not worth it for them to drive the additional few hours. However, many clinics choose to keep these testing kits for a specific amount of time. This allows the person to take a look at the kit and determine if it will have an adverse effect on them. 1/2

  2. Many people worry about having their identity stolen while using a dot drug test at the clinic. Fortunately, there is no way for a person’s identity to actually be stolen during this process. The entire test is performed in-house. No one is even required to provide a credit card, address, or other personal information. The only information that is necessary is the name, address, and birthday of the person being tested. Another concern is whether or not the testing process itself is considered legal. Although the testing does not involve any illegal drugs, some states are against it. However, other states consider the test to be a necessity for those who want to remain drug free. Whatever state the test is performed in, many clinics are willing to assist a person in getting through their DUI easily. There are various consortium that are conducting dot drug test and they can be contacted through their websites like usadrugtesting.org. 2/2
