GE Energy’s Jenbacher gas engines • A leading manufacturer of gas fuelled reciprocating engines for power generation applications: • Power range from 0.25 MW to 4 MW,4 platforms / 11 products • Fuel flexibility: Natural gas or a variety of renewable or alternative gases(e.g., landfill gas, biogas, coal mine gas) • Plant configurations: Generator sets, cogeneration systems, container solutions • Installed base: more than 7,000 units / 8,000 MW • Worldwide more than 800 engines in operation on biogas • Distributed in Eastern Canada through DDACE Power Systems

Customer’s Responsibility during Pre-Construction Phase • Provide biogas volume & composition information • Provide site information: • Is equipment to be installed in building or a green field site that can accommodate a containerized system • Can heat be used elsewhere (barn, house, nearby buildings, absorption cooling etc.) or only in the digester • Is the equipment expected to run during a grid outage • Is the equipment expected to run when no biogas is available (dual fuel)

Responsibility of the Equipment Supplier During Pre-Construction Phase • Determine optimum engine selection based on gas data provided • Determine optimum system configuration: • Heat recovery requirements (steam/hot water) • Fuel treatment requirements • Dual fuel capabilities • Generator voltage • Grid connection (behind meter or direct) • Provide equipment pricing and performance data • Provide service and maintenance pricing • Provide terms & conditions of sale

Additional Activities to Consider during Pre-Construction Phase • Financial modeling of the CHP system – Is often required to obtain financing • Apply for grid connection (Connection Impact Assessment) – Will be required to apply for RESOP contract • Equipment supplier will provide generator data or can look after CIA application as additional service to be provided • Review service and maintenance options: • Preventive maintenance (any work to be performed by customer) • Corrective maintenance (cover unforeseen break-downs) • Performance guarantees • Availability guarantees • Response time guarantees • Term of service agreement

  7. Questions to ask from Equipment Supplier • Previous experience with biogas applications • Local experience with biogas and other distributed generation applications • Commitment to meet local codes & regulations (CSA, ESA, TSSA) • Where is the nearest service technician located • Where is the nearest parts warehouse • What is the guaranteed response time in the event of an unscheduled shut-down • Additional support in the event the technician cannot resolve the issue at hand • Ability for remote diagnosis • Technical Instruction documents • Required for system design

Timeline & Costs during Pre-Construction Phase • Costs: • All the information as described on previous slides will be provided at no cost to the customer • We absorb costs incurred during the pre-construction phase as a business development expense • Time Line: • Budget quote: Same Day • Detailed quotation for CHP equipment: 3-5 days • Detailed quotation for fuel treatment and ‘unusual’ balance of plant equipment: 6-10 days • Financial modelling: 6-10 days
