  1. The Hidden Gold Response by: Addison Yeager & Cyndy Herrera 1

  2. Beginning Addison Marie Grace was just a regular girl until she came aboard the Liberty. She didn't think anything really weird would happen, but she was wrong. Someone adventurous came aboard, and that was just what Marie Grace was looking for. That girl was Wilhelmina, a girl just like Marie Grace. But Wilhelmina has a secret, when she was young her father went out for the California Gold Rush. Because they were poor and wanted their own farm. So, Wilhelmina’s father set off. It took a while for her father to find gold but he finely managed to find enough gold for them to have their own farm. But on the way back Wilhelmina father gets sick and dies before the family gets the gold and all Wilhelmina has as a clue to find the gold is a book of nursery rhymes that her father gave to her. 2

  3. Middle Addison In the middle Marie Grace and Wilhelmina become friends, and had a mystery on their hands, and they wanted to solve it. Later in the book Marie Grace and Wilhelmina had lost the book of nursery rhymes. They looked every where for the book, but it couldn’t be found. They never thought a thief might be on board. They thought of the people that new about the gold. All the people at the dinner table last night know about the gold so they narrowed it down to Mr. Hopkins. They checked him out but he was leaving at the next stop so they had to work fast. 3

  4. End Cyndy At the End Marie Grace and Wilhelmina solved the mystery a friend of Marie Grace found the book and asked her where she found it, Annabelle said “that she found it on the deck outside your door.” and I brought it to my mom so she could read it to me, but she said that it was yours Wilhelmina so l came hear to return it to you. You weren't there so I came now and “I want you to read it to me “they found some boxes in the box the book was found. Marie Grace couldn’t understand the secret messages and clues that her father has given her to find the gold. Marie Grace and Wilhelmina weren’t the only one that was looking for the gold. They saw that someone else was looking for it and that person stole the book and tried to pick the lock to Wilhelmina’s suitcase to try to find a clue or the gold. 4

  5. Cyndy The Liberty was a fine boat, it was one of most elegant boats on the Mississippi river, it was also one of the largest Mississippi boats in the 1850s. The boat had whistling noise that meant anther boat was passing on the starboard, or right side. Two whistles signaled larboard, or left side, pass. More then 2,000 people could come aboard the steamboat! About the liberty 5
