I am going to change the tone and expression in my voice when different characters speak and to show how they are feeling. I am also going to pay attention to the mood of the story and change my expression to show the mood. • Turn to page 344. T176

  14. Synonyms and Antonyms • The plant will not flourish in the sun. It will probably die. • When I read the first sentence, I am not sure what flourish means. So I read the second sentence for clues. I read that the plant “will probably die.” That makes me think that flourish is the opposite of die. • Remember that a word that means the opposite of another word is called an antonym. • A word that means the same as another word is called a synonym.
