  3. Overarching Goals • Augment skills in applied mathematical concepts through investigation • Build and reinforce workplace and college readiness skills and dispositions • Problem-solving and decision-making in real-world contexts • Inquiry-based learning

And Radford (https://sites. google.com/site/mathematicscapstonecourseunits/home) • Team of teachers evaluating and selecting learning activities for 2014/15 offering • Will incorporate dual-enrollment credit for VCCS orientation course, SDV 100

  5. Example Task:To Speed or Not to Speed? • How does the speed you travel affect the fuel economy of your vehicle? • Explore linear equations and inequalities in the context of fuel efficiency & inventory purchasing decisions for a car dealership • Teamwork, presentation, writing
