The Mission to find the meaning of life Ecclesiastes 2:1,3,10 (MSG) 1 I said to myself, "Let's go for it—experiment with pleasure, have a good time!”… 3 With the help of a bottle of wine and all the wisdom I could muster, I tried my level best to penetrate the absurdity of life. I wanted to get a handle on anything useful we mortals might do during the years we spend on this earth. 10 Everything I wanted I took—I never said no to myself. I gave in to every impulse, held back nothing. I sucked the marrow of pleasure out of every task—my reward to myself for a hard day's work!
Ecclesiastes 2:4-8 (MSG) • 4 Oh, I did great things: built houses, planted vineyards, 5 designed gardens and parks and planted a variety of fruit trees in them, 6 made pools of water to irrigate the groves of trees. 7 I bought slaves, male and female, who had children, giving me even more slaves; then I acquired large herds and flocks, larger than any before me in Jerusalem. 8 I piled up silver and gold, loot from kings and kingdoms. I gathered a chorus of singers to entertain me with song, and—most exquisite of all pleasures— voluptuous maidens for my bed. Whoaaaaa!!!!
Most of us will never have that kind of resources and opportunity to experiment like him! • Don’t you think it is a smart thing to do, knowing we probably won’t have the chance to do what he did, to learn from Solomon’s conclusions?
Ecclesiastes 2:11, 17, 18,20 Then I took a good look at everything I'd done, looked at all the sweat and hard work. But when I looked, I saw nothing but smoke. Smoke and spitting into the wind. There was nothing to any of it. Nothing. 17 I hate life. As far as I can see, what happens on earth is a bad business. It's smoke—and spitting into the wind.
18 And I hated everything I'd accomplished and accumulated on this earth. I can't take it with me—no, I have to leave it to whoever comes after me. • 20 That's when I called it quits, gave up on anything that could be hoped for on this earth. When are you going to call it quits? This is the best what this world under the sun can offer!
“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” Ecc 1:9 • “Under the sun” appears 29times in this book. • What Solomon was saying is: • If all there is, is what we see. • If all there is, is what we experience. • Then, It’s all MEANINGLESS.
11God has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecc 3:11 Solomon’s conclusion: Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of every human being. Ecc 12:13 There is nothing new under the sun! We need to go beyond the sun and into the SON!
THE ONLY THING NEW UNDER THE SUN IS…………… YOU!!!! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Not only you are new, but within you now is the power of renewal, so that wherever you are you will renew what is around you. Your family will be renewed, your friends will be renewed, your workplace, school, even your country and your world!
That is why the Bible says: Colossians 3:2 (NKJV) Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Why? Because there is where your answers are! Recycling is not the ultimate answer, renewal is! In order for us to have acceleration and increase in our lives, we need to realize that our pursuit should start in the context of God’s will, not the earth! To do that we first must be “in Christ” – to gain ACCESS to RENEWAL from God.
What am I doing with my Time? Are you devoting your time to something beyond the sun? What am I doing with my Life? Are you devoting your life to something bigger than Life itself? Live in the context of God, and you will experience God accelerating and increasing you into abundance!
