  5. About the ASA • The ASA is the National Governing Body for Swimming and its associated disciplines for England. These include: • Swimming • Diving • Synchronised Swimming • Water Polo • Open Water Swimming

  8. About the ASA • Combination of paid employees and volunteers • National, regional and county structure • 185,500 affiliated members, 1,224 clubs • Various departments, which include: • Workforce Development • Marketing & Media • Finance etc.

A “Typical” ASA Club • Mainly volunteers, although some do have paid Teachers and/or Coaches (full & part-time) • Affiliated to their county, region & national ASA • Constitution and committee – to run club affairs • Various roles within club, which include: • Chairman • Teacher/Coach • Treasurer • Secretary • Officials • Welfare Officer • Volunteer Co-ordinator • Marketing Officer
