  1. MEG Software Status-for the coming review committee-Question from A.BlondelOur answerSchedule and Man power MEG Software Group

  2. Question from A.Blondel • Give a common goal to be achieved by the next review; “I have appreciated the presentation of the offline software team, with a team leader etc... As promised I come forth with the question: could you give us -- and yourself -- a common goal to be achieved with that software in time for the next review?”

  3. The Answer • MC unified framework • With double option: Tokyo or Pisa • Test on reduced number of PMTs • Large Prototype MC unification • CEX beam test • Same offline package for DATA & MC • Event Display • Initially GEANT3

  4. MC Framework - the MC unified framework (with the double option: Tokyo or Pisa) of the final detector should be ready (or almost ready) for the next meeting at PSI; therefore, the test on reduced number of PMTs could be done in the separate programs and in the unified framework as check;

  5. MC Framework for MEG(1) • Unified framework with double option: • Tokyo or Pisa code, • Framework based on: • Fortran 77, • CERNLIB, • ZEBRA, • GEANT3, • Distributed via CVS.

  6. MC Framework for MEG(2) • Tree structure & skeleton … ready; • Materials & tracking medium … merged; • Event generator … stand alone & built-in; • DC, TC, Magnet and B field … merged; • ZEBRA structure … in progress; • Scintillation photon tracking … in progress.

  7. To be done: MEG MC • Merge Liq. Xe Geometry; • Test w/reduced number of PMT in Liq. Xe; • Digitization for all the sub detectors; • Full reconstruction program; • Offline database… ODB? Separate database (e.g.PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)?

  8. Lproto CEX beam test - the same work will be done for the Large Prototype MC, probably in time for the October beam test; the Large Prototype data and MC will be analyzed with the same offline package;

  9. LProto CEX beam test • MC merge into the new framework… just finished. • Common output format for DATA/MC; • Scintillation photon tracking in Liq. Xe… Full ray tracing or geometrical tracking; • Reflection on the PMT quartz window… Fresnel or total reflection; • Scintillation light spectrum… Monochromatic, Gaussian, Basov et.al, etc. • Rayleigh scattering/absorption in Liq. Xe.

  10. To be done: beam test • NaI response simulation; • LiH target and Vessel simulation; • Phase space simulation for p0; • Offline database … ODB? Separate database (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)?

  11. Event Display - the MC event display in the unified framework will be written by using GEANT3, while for the general event display (useful for on-line also) the final decision will be taken later.

  12. Schedule & Man Power (1) • Present a realistic schedule by the review committee • By when will each sub detector part be ready?e.g. Is the DC simulation ready by the coming DC beam test? • Assignment?

  13. Schedule & Man Power (2) • Liq Xe … G.Signorelli,S.Yamada • Drift Chamber … F.Cei, H.Nishiguchi • Timing Counter … P.Cattaneo • Target/Beam … P.-R. Kettle • Magnet … W.Ootani • Trigger … D.Nicolo
