Standard Application versus Cloud Computing Standard Application Cloud Computing • Application software offers specified tasks and applications for consumers. • Operating systems must be downloaded to a computer’s memory. • Often sold by vendors. • Sharing capabilities are not universally automatic. • Resources are at the discretion of the user. • Offers “software as a service” • A private cloud service model can be accessed within company and outside of the company. • Able to access on a variety of devices • The cloud provider “pools” storage, memory, etc. in secure locations. • The cloud determines the appropriate services. • Also monitors activity and detects vulnerabilities.
