VICTR Funding Priorities • Support novel pilot studies that could lead to publications and extramural grants • Support studies that impact clinical care and research methodologies • Support students and trainees • Support federally funded research projects in CRC • Award to areas of NCATS special emphasis (drug development)

  3. ScientificReview Criteria • Will this project promote the career of a young investigator? • Will the project advance preliminary data for an important grant submission, e.g. an R01, P01, K23, SCCOR, etc? • Will the research likely result in a publication? • Will the research improve the translational research infrastructure? • Will the project enhance our community outreach? • Is the project multidisciplinary?

Scientific Review Committee Administrative Team Lesa Black, Diana Andrew, Jennifer Adams, Terri Edwards Role: Serve as primary contact for VICTR funding information and facilitate review of applications Pre-Reviewers Administrative, Biostatistics, Budget, CRC (capacity, nursing, nutrition, cardiovascular, metabolic), Participant Safety (IRB), Cores, Community, Sleep, and Department of Finance Role: Provide area expertise to Scientific Review Administrative team during review of applications SRC Committee Co-Chairs, Expedited, Primary and Secondary Role: Review scientific merit of application Executive Committee Role: Review applications >$100K

Updated Funding Information • Application Updates: • A researcher is allowed 1 voucher request in a calendar year • NIH funded grants requesting CRC resources only in direct relation to currently funded aims will undergo the Expedited review process • K awards should be at pilot level and require a letter from the PI’s department indicating other mentor, department, and/or institutional support for this project • Resource Updates: • Equipment: Should be small portion of entire research project (total value of equipment capped at $5,000). A special call for large equipment will be considered at the end of the year if funds available. • Core Facilities:(Vanderbilt and Meharry Cores) Any request > $5,000 per core will be expected to include a cost sharing plan in which 50% will be provided by the PI/Department and 50% will be provided by VICTR. The cost sharing requirement begins at $5,001.
