Men 16% • Over 1 in 10 under 25’s (11 per cent) eat over seven times in a day, compared to just 4 per cent of over 55’s How often do you eat the following • Over a quarter (26 per cent ) have their breakfast on their commute • Half of us (50%) never have a proper lunch break and instead eat at our desks • time for brunch • 85% of us admit to snacking throughout the day • Of those 79% are men • 81% of us (over ¾’s) will snack after their What is your favourite meal occasion? • Over half of Brits (52%) reveal that dinner is their favourite meal time Who does the majority of the cooking? • 37% of men feel that their partner does the majority of cooking with almost three-quarters of women (71 per cent) feeling that they take on the majority of the household cooking • Takes on average 37minutes to prepare and evening meal during the week whereas on the weekend 1 in 5 (20 per cent) will take over an hour What do you tend to eat your dinner from? • 1 in 20 (5%) of us are likely to eat from a bowl or straight from the pan • Men are more likely to do this with a 5th admitting Where do you eat your evening meal? • Over 1 in 5 (21 per cent) always eat their evening meal at the dinner table • 84% admit to eating at the dinner table when they can but 17% admit that they have eaten dinner in bed • 1 in 10 (11 per cent) have eaten their dinner at the office • 1 in 10 (11 per cent) have eaten their dinner in the car What types of conversation do you have during a typical evening meal • Only 15% talk about their relationship (as the number one topic) over the evening meal compared to 30% who discuss work most regularly Importance of mealtimes • 66 per cent feel that it is important to get the family around the table for dinner • But a third of us (33 per cent) believe that it is getting increasingly harder to do this • Nearly half (49%) believe mealtimes are the best time for conversation but only 1/5 (21 per cent) rarely sit down together
