  2. Developing a strong relationship • Information gathering- phone #’s, e-mails, etc. • Information sharing- homework blogs, wiki’s, progress reports, etc. • The “First Impression” is important • These steps will make the “in-person” introduction much easier. • NO surprises!

  3. Parents are more INVOLVED!!!!! • Parents know what their kids are doing • School spirit- “Friends of NMS” • Access school info from work- NMS blog • In the car • At the rink • Over dinner • It’s all at their fingertips... • NO surprises!

  4. Markbook- tracking progress • Marking software • Organize parental contact info • Share detailed progress reports w/ parents • NO surprises!

  5. Wikispaces • Lesson and unit planning • Continual access to notes, presentations and assignments • Many subjects, one wiki • Illness? Vacation? Stay up to date! • Need wiki help? Go to Jeff Whipple’s wiki presentation during the conference. • Shauna's wikispaceRob’s wikispace

  6. Social Media…it’s not just for kids! • Friends of NMS- growing every year! • Parents witness student creations • Facebook- project creation and sharing • Twitter- share thoughts, ideas and info • Cover it Live

  8. Reality bites! • Time consuming- do it right • Misuse of technology- trust and supervision • Accountability- excuses still exist • BE AWARE OF TONE- edit!!! • ‘net “courage” • Create an –mail folder to save ALL parental communication • Unable to reach everyone- Be confident!
