I know that you are seeking our feedback in how we can contribute to your landscaping piece – but I wonder if there is some opportunity to explore a more fundamental SO role in this context?   2. What we want • Strong, sustainable, politically engaged civil society organisations with a high level of ownership of a shared vision for child well-being, are a key factor in both the immediate and long term success of WV’s work with communities for child well-being.

  3. Why we want it • Short term The success of the shared plans for child well-being depend on the nature and stability of the collaborative structures built in DPA and on the capacity of the local groups and organisations involved. • Long term, They are the foundation of a community’s ability to analyse and assure the continued well-being of their children, especially the most vulnerable.

  4. Context • How the OCB activities develop in any given situation, will depend on the civil society context. The Decision Gate tool, when used at Step 5, enables working groups to explore the civil society and state context for their chosen CWB priority, and agree on one of three broad options for WV’s role and how they will work together.

  5. But having said that ..... • Some kind of OCB activities are always likely to be relevant within a working group, regardless of the context.

  6. WV’s focus...no matter what • Ensuring that the groups and organisations with whom WV is working, have the capacity to participate effectively in shared projects for child well-being, and to work on building their stability and sustainability.

  7. The Task • The OCB Working Group will build on the existing WV capacity, materials and learning at programme level, to develop an effective approach to OCB with local CS which is: • easy to use, • quality consistent, • flexible for context and sector, • appropriate for WV’s programme structures and partnering approach • energy and cost efficient

To do list • Capacity Building Landscape Assessment = crowdmap • Analyze the capacity building needs of local organisations in WV programmes. • Capacity Building Materials Review , Assessment = guidelines • Map Capacity Development Providers = guidelines • Training of Trainers on Capacity Building.

Region/SO/$? • Are you interested in the crowdmap piece of work and will you help us fill it in? • Do you have any expertise we can borrow?
