  2. What is Breast Cancer? • Breast Cancer forms in the breast • It is a tumor in the breast • Breast cancer is the most common malignancies in women in the US • It can occur in both men and women but it is rare for men to be diagnosed

  3. Different Types of Breast Cancer • Ductal Carcinoma • Lobular Carcinoma • Invasive Breast Cancer

  4. Ductal Carcinoma • Found in the lining of the milk ducts • Have not spread through the duct walls into the surrounding breast tissue • If not treated, will spread and become Invasive Cancer

  5. Lobular Carcinoma • Starts in the gland that produces milk • Most likely not detected in regular screening or mammograms • It is rarely spreads to other parts of the body • 1 in 4 women will develop invasive breast cancer that spreads throughout the body

  6. Invasive Breast Cancer • Cancer cells will grow in the duct lining • Break through the duct wall • Invade breast tissue • May metastasize throughout the body
