Oct. 21th at 10 a.m.) Cosmetologists teach how to cope with skin changes and hair loss “Cancer Survivor/Cancer Patient Connections” (Thursday, Oct. 8th at 6 p.m.) Monthly support group for all types of cancer In honor of those who have been affected by this disease: Pink Work Day Tuesday, October 27th Wear pink to show your support! Honor and Remember American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (Indianapolis- Sat. Oct 17th) www.makingstrides.acsevents.org Avon Walk for Breast Cancer (Chicago- June 5-6, 2010) www.avonwalk.org Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure- www.komen.org Maintain a healthy body weight Eat fruits and vegetables Reduce saturated and trans fats Exercise regularly Limit alcohol Breastfeeding may also provide additional benefit • If you are in your 20’s or 30’s, begin monthly breast self-exams. Your doctor should also be administering clinical breast exams. • If you are in your 40’s or older, you should be having yearly mammograms in addition to the monthly breast self-exams.
