  4. CF LCLS Engineering Group Coordination of design with A/E firms (JE, MTH,etc) Primary interface with Physics requirements for CF changes Interface with Jacobs Title III Support Interface with Turner Co. for RFI’s, Submittals, etc. Design of small engineering projects for Tech. Systems Coordination with Integration Management Team (IMT) members Interface and coordination of Engineering issues with SLAC Departments (Fire Marshal, CEF, ES&H, Building Inspection Office (BIO), etc) Roles and Responsibilities

  5. Design Changes since last FAC • Design Change Requests (DCR) Approved (scope and funding) • Service Buildings Power: IMT-DCR-1006-01 (Controls-CF) • Offset Mirror support pad relocation: IMT-DCR-1006-02 (XTOD/XES-CF) • Electron Beam dump: IMT-DCR-1106-01 (Linac-CF) • NEH Concrete Wall Penetrations: IMT-DCR-020701 (XTOD/XES-CF) • BTH West Room Data Sheets (RDS) (CF-all) • DCRs in process • FEE Electrical Alcove: IMT-DCR-0307-01 (XTOD/XES-CF) • NEH Floor Plan Re-design (XTOD/XES-CF) • LCW for LTU (PM/Linac-CF) • Others • CLOC De-scoping • Issues being worked • PPS requirements for CF (lighting controls, AC power, HVAC/ventilation controls, etc) • Concrete floor anchor installations See R. M. Boyce Talk for Details

  6. CF Configuration Management • Interface Control Documents (ICD’s), ESD • JE Construction Bulletins: • CB#1 and CB#2- VE’s • CB# 3-Mirror Foundation, Fire Hazard Analysis Updates • CB# 4-Electrical duct bank across EBD area • CB# 5-Electron Beam Dump Mods and FEE wall • Approvals (WAF, ESH, etc) for all design documents by AE consultants (JE, MTH, etc.) • Release of APPROVED drawings and specifications by LCLS QA • All documentation (drawings and Specs) on LCLS Share point Web Server • Submittals and shop drawings review (Approvals, JE, CF LCLS, ESH, CEF, etc.) • Integration Management Team (IMT) Process for DCR’s

  7. RFI’s and Submittal Process • All RFI documentation via Turner Talk (access CF LCLS, JE and Subcontractors) • Daily Coordination with JE Title III on-site liaison and Project Engineers from Turner Construction • Weekly meetings (Turner, JE and LCLS) to review and set priorities on RFI’s • Internal Coordination with CF LCLS and other SLAC Department to respond to RFI’s • Submittals (electronic and hard copies) • Quick Review of Submittals prior sending them to JE

  8. RFI’s and Submittals Status • RFI’s • Bidding: 181,Re-opened: 49 • Construction: 300, Re-opened: 59 (as April 16-07) • Submittals: • 177

  9. Being Implemented: Linac Electrical Upgrades (S21-S30) Electrical Feeder to BTH CUP/FEH substation 12.47kV RFI responses FCO Coordination 2007 SLAC shutdown Temporary Power (12.4kV, 480 volts) Steel Plates (EBD, FEE) S20-MEP designs-100% Upcoming: BTH West and Service Buildings Design Gas Piping to CUP Power feeders to racks Cold Baffle CF Infrastructure PCW in FEE CF activities in Installation schedule Data/Phone cable backbone installation Power to PPS CF Design and Coordination Activities

  10. Commissioning of LCLS Infrastructure • Commissioning of Systems • Develop SOW for prospective bidders • Implement JE Commissioning Plan • Establish Commissioning Team • Commissioning Authority (CA) • Turner MEP Coordinator, Art Pimentel • Subcontractors ( Mechanical, HVAC Controls, Electrical, Fire Alarm, Fire Protection, etc) • SLAC Conventional and Experimental Facilities (CEF) • Transfer ALL systems to CEF after BO

  11. Issues and Concerns • A lot of activities and limited resources • Changes from Technical Systems • RFI’S and Change Requests from Subcontractors • Multi-tasking (engineering, coordination, UTR support, IMT, SLAC Depts.) • Small changes take time and resources! • Quality of engineering support to the construction activities and changes (due time and resources)

  12. Interface and Configuration Management SUMMARY • Engineering TEAM is in place, coordinating designs, and providing support to Construction Activities and Technical Systems. • Engineering Group in the primary interface between ALL technical systems, A/E consultants, Turner, SLAC Departments: ESH, CEF, etc. Questions? THANKS
