  5. The new Ofsted framework • 4 New Standards • Teaching • Leadership and Management • Achievement • Behaviour

  6. The new Ofsted framework Teaching is the most important of the 4 standards. New focus on literacy. Post-16 no longer graded separately but woven into ‘teaching’. Greater emphasis on ‘narrowing the gap’.

  7. The new Ofsted framework Greater emphasis on marking. And students responding to marking. More/longer lesson observations. Lesson plans not asked for but highlighted seating plan helpful. Search for ‘TYPICALITY’.

  17. The Spanish Armada Goal- To find out how Elizabeth I used the Spanish Armada victory to her advantage.

  18. My name is Sir Francis Drake. I am the commander of the British Navy. I order you to attend the Royal War Room to observe events as they unfold. This is a vital moment in English History. If the Spanish invade it could mean destruction for our great nation.

  19. You will each be assigned a role. You must then complete your job with the utmost care but also with speed. The roles are as follows: 1. British Naval officer- (use p 59 to draw an English galleon AND/OR describe it on paper) 2. Spy- (Use p59 to draw a Spanish galleon AND/OR describe it on your paper) 3. Cartographer- (Use felt tip pens to draw outline of England and add any parts of the country or seas you can find from maps or your memory) 4. Communications expert(Make or draw little bonfires to place on the map) 5. Weather forecaster- (Draw or describe the wind and waves that affected the battle- p60) 6. Naval weapons expert- (Draw or write about fire-ships and what effect they had p59-60) 7. Mineral Geologist- (Make or describe some jagged rocks and learn about their effect p60) 8. Priest (Write a prayer to tell the soldiers why we are on God’s side) 9. King Phillip II of Spain- (Write a letter to Elizabeth telling her why you are invading) 10. Queen Elizabeth I(Read p61 and write a speech for our soldiers making sure you use the line mentioned on p61)

  21. Herbert Hoover- Election Team Your team have to decide on an election strategy. You need to produce at least the following: A manifesto- a plan to get America out of depression- what have you done so far? What has worked? (p90) An election leaflet and/or poster- See Mr Rome’s examples. Election promotion materials (badges, posters, flyers etc)- these can be handed out to your supporters at the Presidential Debate A speech to be performed at the Presidential Debate - No more than 5 minutes long. You will also have to be prepared to answer questions from the audience and even from Roosevelt himself.

  22. Franklin Delano Roosevelt- Election Team Your team have to decide on an election strategy. You need to produce at least the following: A manifesto – a plan to get America out of depression- How has Hoover failed (p90)? What happened to the Bonus marchers? (p91) What is your plan? (p95 and p100) • An election leaflet and/or poster- See Mr Rome’s examples. Election promotion materials (badges, posters, flyers etc)- these can be handed out to your supporters at the Presidential Debate • A speech to be performed at the Presidential Debate - No more than 5 minutes long. You will also have to be prepared to answer questions from the audience and even from Hoover himself.
