  3. District 42 Reformation What is “Reformation” • To reform D42 into more than one District • Approval given by May 4th DEC meeting to request approval for a Reformation committee • Informal committee working on the project since the spring

District 42 Reformation Why consider Reformation • Ultimately greater service to the member • Improved communications between, to, from, and among leaders • Greater opportunities for members in elected and appointed leadership roles • Greater coaching and mentoring of officers from senior executive

District 42 Reformation Why consider Reformation (continued) • Improved member participation at Conferences and conventions • Reduced workload for District Executive team, especially administrative efforts • Allow greater attention to quality programming, and change initiatives • More manageable Divisions and Areas

  6. District 42 Reformation Why consider Reformation (continued) • Reduced travel, travel costs anticipated • Greater attraction to members to take on leadership roles • D42 is 4th largest District in the world, approaching 300 clubs, with net growth of 40 clubs in last 4 years

District 42 Reformation Reformation Recommendations • Options considered • Northern Divisions -- Southern Divisions • Alberta -- Saskatchewan • Southern Alberta -- Sask and Northern Alberta • Blend with neighbouring Districts • Recommend Northern Divisions in one, Southern Divisions in the other

  8. District 42 Reformation Why this recommendation • Creates balanced Districts re: clubs and membership • Maintains strength of leadership • Reduces some travel requirements • Ensures base of potential growth • Policy requires newly reformed Districts to be at least 100 clubs
