If you follow the news you may:- • be confused about what qualifications you need to take, and • worry about ‘are they the right ones’. The qualifications you start in September 2013 will count in two years time when you progress onto your Post 16 options.

Levels & Types of Qualifications “There is no right or wrong qualification to take!” It’s all about the individual Qualification Notes • The majority of qualifications are Level 2 – Academic/Vocational • Level 1 courses are industry “driven” e.g. Hair course • All qualification options are nationally recognised • Our Heads of Faculty’s have ensured that whatever subject you decide to study at Key Stage 4 you can progress on to a range of Post 16 options • If you don’t choose a subject at Key Stage 4 there are still opportunities to study it Post 16

  6. English Baccalaureate MYTHS… I have to take the E-Bacc? The E-Bacc is a qualification! If you don’t take the E-Bacc then you can’t go to University or Higher Education! No No No

  7. English Baccalaureate Fact.… The E-Bacc is a recognition that you have achieved a grade C or above in certain subjects. English – Mathematics – Science – Geography/History – French We will recommend the E-Bacc route using estimated gradesand end of KS3 data. If you like the subjects of Geography, History or French you can still take these individually as part of your option choices
