  2. NEED • Only 35 percent of classrooms are fully engaged in using BYOT on a regular basis

  3. OBJECTIVES • Increase awareness through professional development to attain a school-wide or 100% implementation of BYOT initiative. • Increase student access to technology resources and digital content.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION • STAGE 1 • Foster a “BYOT-Friendly” Atmosphere in the Classroom • Ask Teachers to: • Start thinking about ways that student-owned devices could be incorporated into their lessons. • Share ideas with others. • Ask students about how using their devices can improve their learning. • Encourage students to bring devices to class.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION • STAGE 2 • Attempt to Use BYOT • Ask Teachers to: • Begin trying to incorporate/use BYOT with students. • Ask the ITS or myself to look at their lesson plan/ provide ideas of how to add a BYOT component. • Share their BYOT lessons • Realize that not all students will have their own technology • Focus on the “four C’s” of good teaching and let BYOT happen as naturally as possible.

Implementation • Ask Teachers to: • Send a brief description of what they have done with BYOT in their classrooms. • Continue scheduling a time to meet to discuss ideas if needed. • Remember that BYOT isn’t always about teacher-designed lessons or activities. • Use BYOT on a regular basis.
