  2. Background • RFC1123: TLD names are “alphabetic” • [A-Za-z]+ • IDN names start with: “xn—” • Not allowed as TLD name • Work started in DNS Directorate • IANA would like technical rules to follow for new TLD’s. DNSOP@IETF-76 new TLD name rules
