This update provides information on the goals and responsibilities of ETICS, the team composition, project deliverables and milestones, dissemination efforts, relationships with other work packages and external projects, risk assessment, and current status of the web application.

Goals and responsibilities: Objectives • Disseminate project results and organise dissemination and training events • Promote awareness about the need for quality in research projects software development activities • Investigate and collaborate with similar initiatives to the definition, applicability and scope of quality assurance policies and standards • Investigate the feasibility of a certification process for software developed by research projects and outline a roadmap for its implementation • Set up the project portal for the wide aggregation of user community and to supply the ETICS services ETICS All Hands - Budapest - 29-31 May 2006

Relationships with other WPs • Dissemination and training requires by definition interactions with all WPs, and • Will first be tested on the ETICS team • Almost there… need to close the loop!! • Since we will Eat our own dog food, the web application will be used by all WPs • Web interface is client of the web service build-system (WP3) and the testing (WP4) • Good work done with WP3 • Would like more interactions with WP4 • Community portal provides a forum for ETICS partners and users • Is this useful? Relationships with external projects • EU-OMII • Will be member of the ETICS board of experts • Collaboration are being put in place such that the EU-OMII middleware is build and tested using the ETICS Service • BELIEF • Will work together on joint Quality Assurance events • GGF • Presented ETICS’s certification and QA ideas during GGF17. • Need to define clear participation for new GGF group, if agreed, for GGF18 • ICEAGE • Collaborate and participate in training events • Other • NESSI, C-OMEGA, etc ETICS All Hands - Budapest - 29-31 May 2006

Risk assessment • Definition of the ETICS Quality Certification Processis not clearly defined • Mitigation: involve the Board of Experts, to guide the scope to the certification • The composition of the Board of Experts has to be representative of future stake-holders of the ETICS certification process • HP event is a first step in identifying Board Members ETICS All Hands - Budapest - 29-31 May 2006

Web Application, current status • With WP3, defined use cases for read-only and editing • https://uimon.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/ETICS/UseCases • In collaboration with WP3, cover most elements in the system • Web application prototype available • Read only use case implemented, integrated with ETICS web service (with WP3) • Full browsing of the ETICS datamodel • Proof of concept for edit usecase (stand alone) available for module editing • Web application points at etics-test.cern.ch and etics.cern.ch. • Feedback required and welcome (Savannah preferred) ETICS All Hands - Budapest - 29-31 May 2006

Web Application, planning (2) • Implement Scheduler Service Use cases - plan • Status: Activity has not been started yet • First need use cases • Could target September 2006 • Security • Status: Not yet introduced in the Web Application • Introduce AuthN based on X.509 certificates June 2006 • Issue: requires inteface change to handle Web Application / Web Service AuthN and AuthZ using browser-loaded X.509 certificates July 2006 • Is this timeline acceptable?
