  2. Orientation Workshop Goals & Objectives Discuss the Role and Responsibilities of EO Officers to enforce the nondiscrimination and equal opportunity provisions of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (29 CFR Part 37) continued

  3. Orientation Workshop Goals & Objectives • Provide background on disability policy and give a current CRC perspective. • Provide an overview the Section 188 Checklist Structure • How the Checklist can be used to measure compliance and augment program assessments.

Federal Requirements for Equal Opportunity Officers • Section 188 implements nondiscrimination and equal opportunity provisions of WIA (29 CFR Part 37) • Lists the key requirements for recipient EO Officer roles and responsibilities • Job Corps Contractor’s and Center’s designation = voluntary compliance

  7. Equal Opportunity Officers Rolesand Responsibilities §37.25 • Serve as individuals responsible for coordinating equal opportunity activities to fulfill Recipient obligations under nondiscrimination and equal opportunity requirements WIA (29 CFR Part 37)

  8. Equal Opportunity Officer Responsibilities • Serves as liaison with CRC; • Conducts EO compliance monitoring and investigations (Analyses by race/ ethnicity, sex, age, and disability status to determine cause of significant differences); • Reviews written policies;

  9. MORE RESPONSIBILITIES • Develops and publishes procedures for discrimination complaint processes; • Develops and implements Methods of Administration N/A for Job Corp (CRC suggest Section 188); • Reporting on EO matters directly to the top official
