The Extra Mile… • Modification of test methods to better match the application. • Reports include detailed description of the test methods used, the sample set up, the results and the failure mode. • Pictures in the report to demonstrate the set up and failure mode. • Providing customers with a clear understanding of the test and the results.

  4. The Shelf Strip The Application: • Exposed side bonding to extruded vinyl shelf strip • Liner side bonding to powder coated metal shelf • Shelf strip bond is stressed regularly at edges when brushed against by customers

  5. The Shelf Strip The Report: • Developed a new test, Inverted 90° Angle Static Peel, to put simulate the anticipated failure mode, with quantifiable results

  7. The Shelf Strip The Result: • Altered the construction of an existing product to best match the performance required for the application. • Resulting product was cheaper than the standard product it replaced and performed better than the competition even at 1/3 less coverage.

  8. The Vinyl Flooring The Application • Required a 3-mil Transfer Tape • Bonding highly plasticized vinyl to concrete floor • Heavy traffic area with heavy stresses • Adchem was informed of this opportunity after several other tape and adhesive manufacturers were already working on it

The Vinyl Flooring The Report • Adchem ultimately won the business with a superior product and superior technical support and reporting, as noted by the owner of the company. • Adchem developed new tests to simulate the application, screened numerous products against the competitors, provided written report with pictures, as well as a video demonstrating the products under stress.

  11. The Vinyl Flooring The Competitor • It was discovered that tiles laminated with Comp C, by the customer, demonstrated adhesive pick-off when the liner was removed. • This, of course, was brought to the customer’s attention in the report.

  12. The Baby Bath The Application • Bonding thin polyethylene foam inside baby bath tub. • Customer wanted a product with the same “softness” as the incumbent product. • Bond must withstand stresses associated with a baby bath mat.

  13. The Baby Bath The Report • After basic product breakdown and comparisons, new tests were devised to distinguish the products. • Warm water immersion peels were conducted, demonstrating the drop off in strength of the Comp. These were charted as a visual aid.

  14. The Baby Bath The Foam Bond • The superiority of the Adchem 5000M bond to the PE foam was demonstrated with embedded photographs. • Note the large glossy areas on the Comp tape, indicating no foam tear vs. Adchem 100% foam tear

  15. The Baby Bath The “Softness” Factor We had the products analyzed for Probe Tack, and the results graphed for visual effect, thus demonstrating the Adchem 5000M having superior “softness”.
