Engineering and R&D • DIETSWELL believes that engineering is one of the corner stones for our company’s long-term growth and THE way to stay ahead of our competitors. • DIETSWELL with its in-house engineering center can propose innovative solutions solving our clients short and long-term issues. • DIETSWELL’s engineers are currently developing new technologies related to e.g. drilling through unconsolidated formation and depleted zones. The new technology will be implemented on a specialized in-house built drilling rig (RCR*). • The RCR is a compact and highly mobile drilling rig particularly well adapted for workover operations and rejuvenation of mature oil and gas fields (Brown Fields) • DIETSWELL is running R&D projects related to oil and gas well drilling with some of the most prestigious French universities. *Reverse Circulation and Rotary

RCR – Reverse Circulation and Rotary • DIETSWELL is currently commissioning a new type of compact and highly mobile drilling rig using an in-house developed rig design. • This rig design allow for conventional rotary drilling and underbalanced drilling in reverse circulation mode without any down time for rig modifications. • The rig design has several advantages compared to traditional designs: • Important cost reduction due to underbalanced drilling with lower volume of nitrogen. • No damage of the formation by invading drilling fluids. • Higher rate of penetration (ROP) in hard formations compared to conventional drilling. • Possibility of “casing while drilling” allowing for safe and fast drilling across e.g. unstable formations, depleted zones and fresh water reservoirs. • The drilling rig is also equipped with an innovative system for handling of drill pipes and casings allowing for safe and highly time efficient operations.

RCR Operating Environment • The RCR drilling rig is designed to operate both as a conventional rig and in reverse circulating drilling mode. • < 600 meters (~2,000 ft): • Air drilling with reverse circulation and down hole hammer if well is dry. Air drill depth is limited to 280 meters if water is coming in the hole. • <1500 meters (~5,000 ft): • Air drilling with reverse circulation and AIR LIFT mode in case the well is fed by water bearing zones. • 1500-3000 meters (~5000-10,000 ft): • Conventional drilling using direct mud circulation and related technology.

RCR Specifications DRILLING FLOOR • 37 ½ " ID opening identical to a standard 37 ½” rotary table; • RCR-1200 table is fitted with a proprietary design hydraulic pipe-handling spider. • Make up rotation and torque for 20” casings and 3 ½” Drill Pipe is provided by the Top Drive. • 5 ½ " and 4 ½ " drill pipe provided by conventional drill pipe tongs pulled by a hydraulic cylinders. TUBULAR HANDLING • Specially engineered pipe-handling crane. CONVENTIONAL ROTARY DRILLING • The RCR-1200 drilling rig sets is designed for conventional rotary drilling. TRAILERS • Circulation on the European road network • Desert tires DRILLING MAST • Telescopic (hydraulic cylinders) • 120 M tons @ full height 17.5 m (58ft) • 160 M tons @ 13.5 meters (45ft) of the hook travel. • Vertical downward load of 15 tons to the drilling string. • Designed for single Range 3 joints/Range 2 drill pipe. TOP DRIVE (Power swivel) • Hydraulic motor with hollow shaft • Torque of 3200 DaN.m (23,000 Ft-Lbs) at all rotation speeds. • Max. rotation 130 rpm.

R&D with Universities • DIETSWELL has initiated a R&D project related drilling in reverse circulation with some of the French universities. • The on-going project aims towards a better understanding of: • Cutting sedimentation during drilling in reverse circulation mode using different types of fluids. • Comparison of ECD’s (conventional rotary vs. reverse circulation). • Optimization of the drilling parameters when drilling in reverse circulation mode. • The project involves three stages: • Theory and calculation • Laboratory mock-up • Full-scale validation with the RCR
