  2. PARENTS • He was the 3rd surviving son of King John. • The daughter of the English Duke was his mother, and her name was Philippa of Lancaster. • Henry was born March 4, 1394 in Opial.

  3. EARLY LIFE • He was from Opial, Portugal. • His full name was Prince Henry III. • He was the governor of Portugal’s southern coast. • He liked slave trade because one of his men AntaoGoncalves came back from Rio De Ouro with captives.

  4. EXPEDITIONS • Gil Egnnas was first to sail beyond Cape Bojadorand in return, he worked for Prince Henry. • He sent an expedition for Cape Palmas. • He wasn’t an explorer, but he sent expeditions from Portugal to Africa. • He sent one man named Alvis Da Cadamosto on two expeditions. The man he sent might have discovered Cape Verde Islands.

  5. RELIGION • He told about Christianity. • He defeated the Muslims. • He did it to see how far Muslim land stretched from the South and to find the legendary Christian empire.

  6. DEATH • He was in debt when he died from sending out expeditions. • He died November, 13 1960. • When he died in 1460, his soldiers had found Liberia.
