  1. 7 Tips to Improve Your Child's Sleep Sleep is a health requirement for adults as well as kids. When children are at the growing stage, it becomes very essential for them to get quality slumber. It allows their body to re-energize and re-charge itself during the slumbering hours. Lack of slumber can make kids cranky, tired or needy. Therefore, sufficient amount of sleep is essential when it comes to the little ones, as it not only makes them functional but also re-energizes them. Let us one by one go through the tips to improve your child’s sleep: 1)Getting sufficient sleep The first and the foremost thing you need to ensure is that your kid is getting enough sleep. The definition of ‘enough sleep’ varies from one age group to another. Based on the study done by The National Sleep Foundation, kids from age 6-12 need 9 to 11 hours of sleep, whereas teenagers need 8.5 to 9. 5 hours to work properly. If we talk about adults, they need sleep between 7.5 to 8 hours to function properly. 2)Switch off the technology Televisions, smart phones or computers are the only window to the world for a kid. Children easily get distracted by these and later lose track of their time while playing or using them. Therefore, it is suggested keeping all tech gadgets away from the bedroom of children. This is because studies have shown that the late night screens keep kids awake and away from the real healthy sleep, which they need. 3)Comfort them with a comforter Kids always need someone at bedtime when they are about to snooze to make them feel comfortable and warm. Soft toys like a teddy or a doll at that time act as a comforter for the infants. They develop a strong bond with their comforters. In addition, whenever they feel lonely or insecure, soft toys act like their all-time companion, which makes them feel secure and help them fall asleep easily. 4)Make your kids’ room comfortable and cozy. Going to bed should always be a happy feeling for your children. Make the bedroom a warm and comfortable place to snuggle for them. Children usually tend to use their bed for everything, including homework, watching cartoons or sports and so forth. You should refrain

This is all done in order to make kids associate their beds with sleep. 5)Uniform bedtime routine It is important to make your kids disciplined. For making this possible, stick to one bedtime routine every night, whether it involves bathing, brushing teeth or reading a story, and so forth. The more emphasizes is laid on keeping a consistent routine as our body responds best to repeated patterns. Thus, ensure to stick to a routine the moment your kid gets back from school or play school until he/she goes to bed. The best way to ensure the bedtime routine is to skip video games, television or similar distractions before going to bed. 6)The right nourishment A well-balanced diet can help a great deal to improve your little one’s slumber pattern. If your kid is undernourished or vitamin deficient, he (or she) might feel drowsy and lethargic. Try including more carbs in their food as it has a calming effect on the body, proteins bring about the alertness, and so forth. So, if you feel that your kids’ slumber pattern needs to be improved, then, check whether your kid is getting the required nourishment. 7)Managing kids slumber trouble Sometimes when children are unable to fall asleep, parents usually tend to scold them instead of thinking that kid might be suffering from some “sleep trouble”. Slumber struggles include things like waking up in the night, snoring, and a loud or heaving breathing while slumbering. Due to these, kids might seem overtired, cranky, or sluggish during the day. If these are the things your kid is going through, then, you need to consult your doctor. When it comes to cultivating good slumbering habits, it takes some time and there is no instant fix - be it, for kids or parents. So, start the routine from today and help your child improve their sleep.
