  1. Interrupting Life

  2. Have we ever defined our relationship with Christ? If not; then what does it consist of?

  3. Does our relationship with Christ reflect what we are committed to? Has a sermon ever seemed like it interfered with our lives?

  4. If so; why?

  5. 2 Peter 1:3-9 NLT 3 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.

  6. 2 Peter 1:3-9 NLT 4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

  7. Because of His divine power Godly life (NLT) or godliness (NIV) = “good worship” Called us to Himself World’s corruption Growing in faith

  8. 2 Peter 1:3-9 NLT 5 In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge,

  9. 2 Peter 1:3-9 NLT 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

  10. Spiritual maturity God’s promises Again “godliness”=good worship

  11. 2 Peter 1:3-9 NLT 8 The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

  12. What is it that Jesus wants us to do?

  13. How do we get there?

  14. Give up our worldly desires Lay everything down Take up our cross Lay down our troubles Be prayerful people

  15. Luke 9:23 23 Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

  16. Most Importantly: Commit Whatever, whenever, wherever Yes to God, and no to ourselves
