  3. Graduation Requirements • All students must have a minimum of 23 credits to graduate. • All students must also pass all required courses.

  4. Graduation Requirements • 4 credits of English • 4 credits of Math • 4 credits of Science (Biology, Physical Sci or Physics, Chemistry or Environmental, 1 additional) • 3 credits of Social Studies (4 courses) • ½ credit of Health • ½ credit of Personal Fitness • 3 electives from CTAE, Fine Arts or World Languages

  5. Foreign Language Although not required for graduation, two and four year colleges require 2 credits of the same foreign language for admissions.

  6. Testing Requirements • Students must pass the Writing section of the Graduation Test

  7. Honors and Recognitions • Honor Grad • Board Scholar • Academic Seal • Fine Arts Seal • Foreign Language Seal

  8. Registration • Choose classes wisely *Math classes need to be in line with plans after high school *AP classes cannot be dropped

  9. Credit Recovery • If a student has taken and failed a course, E2020 is available. • Details about summer school will not be available until May. • Last Year the cost was approximately $400.00 per class.

  11. Dual Enrollment • Earn both high school and college credit • Students will go through the registration process at NMHS and complete dual enrollment registration later in the spring during college admission and registration.

  15. SAT vs. ACT • Both are accepted by colleges for admissions. • SAT is reasoning test and the writing section is required. • ACT is knowledge test and the writing section is optional (most colleges want a writing score). • Students must register for tests online. • Waivers are available for students who qualify.

  16. Application Process • Students should begin this process their senior year. • Students should research admissions requirements before applying. • Student is responsible for adhering to college deadlines. • Applications and transcript requests should be submitted to Mrs. Morris. • $3.00 administrative fee for official transcripts.

  17. Financial Aid • FAFSA • HOPE Scholarship • Other Scholarships • Grants • Loans • Financial Aid Night during senior year (usually in January)

  18. New HOPE Rigor Requirements • Rigor Courses: Advanced Math, Advanced Science, Advanced Foreign Language, Advanced Placement (AP) in core subjects, International Baccalaureate (IB) in core subjects, Dual Credit Enrollment courses in core subjects taken at an eligible postsecondary institution.

NMHS Classes that count toward HOPE Rigor • English: AP Language, AP Literature • Math: Statistics, AP Calculus, Math III, Math IV, Accelerated Math III • Science: Human Anatomy, Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Physics, AP Physics, Forensic Science, • Social Studies: AP Psychology, AP Government, AP Microeconomics, AP Human Geography, AP World History, AP United States History • Foreign Language: French II, French III, Spanish II, Spanish III, Spanish IV, Spanish V

Rigor Requirements • Students graduating on or after May 1, 2015 must pass two courses from the list (this years Juniors) • Students graduating on or after May 1, 2016 must pass 3 courses from the list (this years Sophomores) • Students graduating on or after May 1, 2017 must pass 4 courses from the list (this years Freshmen)
