  3. College Admission Testing Most colleges require students to take college admissions tests • SAT- www.collegeboard.org • ACT- www.actstudent.org Both the ACT and the SAT are nationally administered standardized tests that help colleges evaluate candidates. Most schools accept either test interchangably. So as you begin to think about college and creating the best application package possible, your admissions plan should begin with the question, "Which test should I take?“ You can try a free practice test for the SAT and ACT through www.march2success.com. Free online prep for the new SAT will be provided through Khan Academy https://www.khanacademy.org/test-prep/new-sat *Some colleges require or suggest that students take SAT subject tests (SAT II). Check your college’s websites to see what they require.

  4. When should I take the SAT/ACT • Most juniors take the SAT/ACT in the winter or spring. This gives students a chance to get their scores back and retake the test if they want to try and achieve a higher score in June or in the fall. • It is also recommended to take subject tests at the end of your junior year if your colleges require them. The course work is fresh in your mind at the end of the year.
