  2. PPA Inc. • Formed in the 1970s. • Called the Association of Paid Circulation Publications (APCP) for years to distinguish it from controlled circulation publications.

  3. PPA Inc. • Renamed the Periodical Publications Association in 1994 to reflect that members represent both paid and requestor publications • Goal is to provide information. a forum for networking and to represent the interests of Periodical publishers

  4. PPA Inc. • Also representation on MTAC and before the Postal Rate Commission • MTAC representatives: • Jack Widener, Newsweek • Steve W. Smith, Christian Science Publishing

  5. PPA Inc. • Small association – about 20 members • Focus on education & networking • Four quarterly Postal Roundtables featuring key leaders from the Postal Service and the publishing industry • Usually held at Newsweek in New York

  6. PPA Inc. • Intimate setting offers opportunity for interaction and discussion • Formal presentations are followed by lunch during which participants continue to network and talk with speakers

  7. PPA Inc. • Our goal is not to compete with larger associations but to provide a small-group environment where members can feel comfortable asking questions, sharing information & networking • Members say they like the intimate settings and informal atmosphere

  8. PPA Inc. • Recent speakers and topics include: • Ashley Lyons, USPS, on the pending rate case • Jim Hess, USPS, on service performance improvement • Charles Mancuso, USPS, on BSN restructuring • Rosa Fulton, USPS, on flats sequencing

  9. PPA Inc. • Pritha Mehra, USPS, and Scott Lorenz, Time Inc., on streamlining acceptance and preparation of periodicals • Mike Winn, RR Donnelley, on optimization of preparation and entry of periodicals

PPA Inc. • Our next quarterly roundtable is Tuesday, November 14, in New York. • Speakers include: • Carla Siniscalchi, USPS, on Facility Access & Shipment Tracking • Jim O’Brien, Time Inc., update on pending rate case and outlook for rate increase • Dan Owens, Palm Coast Data, on addressing and list management
