What is Red Tag? • A not-for-profit association • Sole purpose: improving the delivery of time-value publications • 35 years old • Full Members are the publishers of time-value publications • Associate Membership open to other publishers, printers, alternate delivery companies and others interested in the delivery of publications

  3. What does Red Tag do? • Forum for interchange of ideas • Roundtables and meetings at NPF • Monthly newsletter • Flash email reports • Consultation/problem solving • Testified at rate cases • Representation at MTAC • Delivery Monitoring

Who are the publication members? • In 1971 • started by three publishers who were concerned with the deterioration of delivery of their weekly publications. • In 2006 • 64 publications • 20 million readers served • 830 million pieces of periodicals class mail • Renewal forms and invoices account for another 100+ million pieces of first class and standard mail each year

  5. Broad Representation • Circulations from over 3 million to under 5,000 • Dailies, weeklies, bi-weeklies, monthlies • Consumer and business-to-business • Paid and controlled • Delivery to home and business addresses

  13. We’re optimistic about the magazine business • Printed magazines will be around for a long time to come • We’re all aware of the competition from the internet and other electronic media • Need to optimize mail delivery in order to compete • Crucial to both USPS and to our member publications
