  13. Electronic Payments (1/4) • Pros • Electronic payments helped to minimize cash on hand.  This is very good for safety/security concerns.  • Electronic payments also allowed the Treasurer to NOT have to be present at the check-in table during the dinner and before the lecture.  However, SOMEONE still had to be there to hand out nametags and check people in for dinner.  In the case with Hallion, that person was an OAI employee. • Electronic payments with a deadline helped minimize the “no-show” situation where people RSVP but don’t show up.  This costs NOS money in food ordered but not paid for. • Century Federal Credit Union does work with PayPal

  14. Electronic Payments (2/4) • Cons • Implementation: It is believed but not confirmed yet that our current section website will not support electronic payments. Long term we would probably require a new website.

  15. Electronic Payments (3/4) • Payment Options • PayPal – 2.9% +$0.30 per transaction ($0 monthly) • Google Checkout – 2.9% +$0.30 per transaction ($0 monthly) • ProPay – e-mail them for more information • Network for Good - 3%-5% per transaction • DonorPerfect - $59/month • The Raiser’s Edge/Blackbaud – e-mail them for more information • Intuit QuickBooks - $0/month, Swipe qualified rate: 2.4% +$0.25, Keyed qualified rate: 3.4%+$0.25

  16. Electronic Payments (4/4) • Recommended path forward • Use PayPal • Develop a new NOS website (hyperlink to it off the existing site) • Pros • If we want to move forward with electronic payments we may have no other choice • Young Astronaut’s Day needs a home • A site that potential new members could go to without having to log into the aiaa.org site • Cons • Up front time sink to create the new site
