E-BuHu-MC DISASTER TO SAFETY INTRODUCTION AIM AND OBJECTIVES OPTIONS TELC Background and scenario description SLEEPT • Telc is a small town with four major areas i.e. Centrum which is where the city centre, Podoli on the east, Stepnice at the north, Staro Mesto at the southern side of the city centre. • The town center has listed as one of the UNESCO historical site. • According to the news:The Telc region suffered a major earthquake on the 12th April with the epicentre in the Historic Centrum; this was an unprecedented event. • Adjacent rivers exceeded their highest levels since records began As a result: • 16 people died. • 22,000 people were evacuated • Provisional damage estimate is €350m • Structural evaluation suggests that >10% of all buildings are structurally damaged to an extent that they are considered to be irreparable and some have already been demolished (1,000 premises destroyed) STAKEHOLDERS CONCLUSIONS TABLE OF CONTENS

Conclusions E-BuHu-MC INTRODUCTION AIM AND OBJECTIVES • Depending on scenario presented, group 8 has come to the conclusions of providing: • Leaving the ruins of centrumas a heritage and tourist atraction • Repair to less damaged structures in Podoli and Stare Mesto • Rebuild new houses for the damaged and demolished structures • Value addition • Resturation of the heritage status • Provision of tourist attraction for the ruins • Increasing the lifes of the affected people by better accomodation provisions along with recreational facilities • The lands available by moving the damaged areas can be used for long term environmental research center and university which will generate work and income OPTIONS SLEEPT STAKEHOLDERS CONCLUSIONS TABLE OF CONTENS
