GN2 SA VC tech. background I. • Central conference reservation portal: • Multipoint VC scheduling (MCU) • User authentication (JRA5) - federated • Technical knowledge: lowest possible • Connection details provided automatically – GDS based • MCU reservation at partners: • MCU free capacities are reported – MCU federation • Maintained centrally • XML based comm. between the portal and partner resources: • XML scheme/handling to be defined • Scalable • Local (partner) XML interface to be developed NIIF – http://www.niif.hu

GN2 SA VC structure • Phase 1 (Sept., 2006 – Sept., 2007): • Work Item 1: • Implementation of reservation portal • GN2 gatekeeper – 1 server • XML based, fully automated booking • Work Item 2: • Service enchancements • Maintain the collaboration with VidiNET & TF-VVC • Phase 2 (GN2 Y4 and beyond): • Automated MCU cascading for large conferences • Advanced conference management facilities • Videoconference streaming, archiving • . . . to be defined NIIF – http://www.niif.hu

GN2 SA VC status and participation • Short project proposal was prepared • Current participants: • HEANET, HUNGARNET, SURFNET, SWITCH • SA would start: September, 2006 • Actions/dates: • Negotiations on technical questions are under way • DoW document is being prepared • To be commited to GN2 EXEC in June SA VC is open for any GN2 partners NIIF – http://www.niif.hu
