  1. Endangered species in China

  2. What is endangered species? • Endangered species are animals or plants that are soon to die out. This means that once they become extinct, they will never be seen on Earth again.

  3. What caused them to be endangered? • The chemicals that people use • Hunting and trading • Some exotic birds are dying out because of trading. They get shipped around the world. While they are being sent, some die.

  4. The example of endangered species in China

  5. Giant Panda • The Giant Panda is endangered for two reasons. One reason is habitat loss. Habitat loss means it's habitat is being destroyed. The bamboo forests are drying up which makes it hard to find food. • Another reason is hunting. Hunting is where you shoot something.

  6. Tiger • Tigers are perhaps the most magnificent of the big cats. They are also one of the most endangered. • At the turn of the last century there were 100,000 tigers. Today it is estimated that fewer than 7,000 remain in the wild. Nearly every part of the tiger is traded, from its bones to its magnificent skin

  7. Francois Leaf Monkey (黑叶猴) • Francois' leaf monkey weighs 6 - 9 kg (13 - 20 lb). It is found in tropical monsoon forest and well-sheltered rocky areas in limestone hills and caves. Its diet is comprised mostly of leaves and some flowers and fruits.

  8. Binturong (貄貓) • The Binturong is a nocturnal animal in the civet family. It lives in mature forests and feeds on fruit, insects and birds. Binturongs are also good swimmers and good divers. The Binturong is native to the Cuc Phuong region.

  9. Owston Palm Civets • Owston Palm Civets is a small forest-dwelling carnivore that is endangered due to the loss of habitat and being hunted. It is a difficult animal to breed, as its breeding season is only 6 - 8 days per year. There was cause to celebrate in 2000 when two Owston Palm Civets were born and they took the number born at Cuc Phuong since 1997 to nineteen.

  10. White-lipped Deer (白唇鹿) • The white-lipped deer is a large deer, weighing up to 230 kg (500 lb). It is generally found in high hills and mountains covered with a mosaic of forest, rhododendron, and meadows. High, open pastures are preferred, usually above 3500 m (11,500 ft) up to the limit of vegetation above 5000 m (16,400 ft). Grasses comprise most of its diet. Herds of up to 200 - 300 individuals have been observed.
