  3. Learning Targets • We will… • Identify the characteristics of successful collaborative professional learning • Consider the co-planning, co-teaching, and co-learning cycle of collaborative professional learning • Reflect on and share their own experiences supporting professional learning for educators in their district

  5. 5 Why Protocol - ILT • Pattern Statement: The ILT was developed to • support instruction and assessment in our district. • Why? Educators and administrators were asking for more time, resources and structures to support all learners • Why? It is challenging to meet the needs of all students in today's classrooms • Why? Students have a variety of ability levels, interests, and learning styles that are difficult to address. • Why? Educators and administrators had been given support, but this support was not resulting in consistent application and transfer to the classroom • Why? Teachers have been introduced to a variety of "best practices" but have not been given the time to apply or share their learning in a job embedded or collaborative manner.

  6. Theory of Action If …we (the ILT) build collaborative networks where we work alongside teams of educators in a job-embedded cycle of co-planning, co-teaching and co-learning, Then…powerful and purposeful teaching and learning will occur in the classroom.

  7. Criteria • We believe collaborative networks deepen professional learning when we… • build a culture where learning is respected and supported. • are driven by a shared purpose that is focused and directed by the participants. • create opportunities for continuous learning.
