  1. Bruce Correll Registrar November 22, 2005, 10:10 a.m. PABUG Baseline Admissions Curriculum Controls in Banners On Line applications

  2. This session will review BASELINE methods for curriculum control for Banners On line admissions application. If time remains I will also demo how user defined questions may be used to enhance the baseline application. • We will look at data needed in: • SMAPRLE - Program Definition Rules Form • SOACURR - Curriculum Rules • STVMAJR – Major Code Validation (CIPC Codes) • SOAXREF – EDI Cross-Reference Rules • SOAXCUR- EDI Cross-Reference Rules • SAAWCUR – Web Application Customized Curriculum

  3. SMAPRLE • Begins the links needed for SOACURR Base Rule number • Probably not necessary to make any changes

  4. SOACURR • Verify that all SMAPRLE rules are linked to necessary unique Base Rule codes. • I like to keep an ad hoc report of all SOBCURR Base Rules and linked majors available with CIPC Codes from STVMAJR.

  5. STVMAJR_CIPC_CODE • Verify that all majors for which you expect to receive an application have a CIPC code. • If it is a “made up one” it is OK (until the IPEDS Completions report) • It is good opportunity to make sure you are using CIPC 2000 and they match the SEVIS code

  6. SOAXREF Set Up • Input the CIPC codes that relate to the major you wish to display for selection. • For multi selections in one CIPC code you must add a 7th character to create a unique row. • The Description field is free text of 60 characters.

  7. SOAXREF – Sample # 1

  8. SOAXREF Sample # 2

  9. SOAXCUR • Key block indicates term code effective • Rule refers to the unique line in SOBCURR • Majors related to that line are listed below. • For each major to be displayed you need to fill in Degree, QLFR., Identification Code (from SOAXREF), Web Display indicator • Desc: A free text field to allow you to enhance the major description. Selections will be listed on the App in alpha order of this field ((UNLESS)).

  10. SOAXCUR – Sample

  11. SAAWCUR • Primary use of this form is to assign a SOACURR major rule to a specific STVWAPP application type(s) • Web Desc: will default to DESC on SOAXCUR until you change it here. Then the display will alpha by this field.

  12. SAAWCUR Sample

  13. SAAWCUR

  14. SAAWCUR – How to ??? • The form will list majors associated with this type of App if the Key Block (KB) Restricted flag is set to Y. • If the KB Restricted Flag is set to N all majors on SOAXCUR will be listed. • To select majors for restriction leave the KB Restriction flag to N and review each major and set the form Restrict to Y. • Save the changes. • Set the KB restrictions to Y and save again. • With the KB restrict set to Y proofread the list. • Majors may be restricted to as many STVWAPP application types as you wish.

  15. SAAWUDQ • The use of this form is to create and edit user defined questions • It is also to assign them to an app type • Yes/No questions or free text • You can use HTML tags for display control

  16. Displaying questions • To display a user defined question it must be added to the Element Codes on SAAWAPP. • Select the SAAWAPP section of the app where you want the question to display • Once the section is highlighted select Element Codes for the options menu. • Insert Order, this is the sequence number for multiple questions. • Create sequence numbers at least 5 apart, it is easier to add new ones than to edit old ones. • Required flag indicates an answer is requires and the Disp indicator will activate the question.

  17. SAAWUDQ - Samples

  18. Closing and Questions • Any questions? • Any suggestions? • Thank you for your courtesy. • A copy of this ppt file is available at: http://www.lehigh.edu/~inrgs/files/ • If you are sick of me, volunteer next year to do this yourself, please !!
