  9. Your Status – semester, year, planned or actual date of graduation, and current job, if you have a job. Include a copy of your resume, and still include the information above in your request. Do not assume that your teachers will agree to write a letter for you. Ask politely for a response to your request. Work on building a personal relationship with the teacher so they get to know you on a personal level. Allow one week for the response. If the answer is yes, write a brief thank-you note. If the answer is no, contact the next person on your list. If you do not receive a response, contact the professor again with a reminder.

  12. “I just need someone to show me how and where to go, and you guys did.” Her parents had both passed away A young student who was 18, had to obtain her own health insurance, her own job, her own apartment, and was struggling to obtain any financial aid information from her father. When we finished the presentation, she was so grateful and confident that she could overcome the obstacles and for forward with her career goals. Survey- Student Response to CCR Workshops The overwhelming, positive student feedback has helped to determine that our school district will plan on implementing the workbook into our career readiness curriculum. One young man told me the program provided useful resources to help him better understand what steps to take for his career goals. Since then, he has set up a job shadow and also visited a college. - A HS Counselor
