  1. ATLTGI - AGM DIT November 2010

  2. Current trends in German StudiesIoTs • Ab initio & LC, TS & BA, BBS,BA in International BS. Also students from Engineering, Computing & Architecture, but BA Arts German has not been successful. • Year 1 numbers in Business, Hotel and Humanities are well up in French, Spanish and German. Big numbers in year 1 balancing out fewer numbers in other years. • Numbers in German have increased in first year; TS, Hospitality & BS studies. • Numbers up overall in first year. • German on Tourism and Culinary Arts degrees; BA International Business and Languages – all streams fill each year.

  3. Current trends in German studiesIoTs German increased in first year (2009 – 2010 as well as 2010 – 2011) in European Studies. IoT also managed to reintroduce German to first year students of Business this academic year. The numbers have increased in the past two years. This is due to the fact that IoT is taking in more students overall into their business programmes. IoT is offering German at both ab initio and PLC levels. German is offered on International Business and General Business programmes. German First Year has improved; Marketing Courses which attract students.

  4. Current trends in German studiesUniversities Numbers have very much increased. Numbers are slightly up. German is also offered as an option to students of Business Studies, Accounting and Finance and International Relations. Numbers are stable, they have increased in Business German and Beginners but decreased slightly in some other areas (it is not compulsory for Law students anymore to take a language). Student numbers in first year have increased sharply this year. The increase is over a spread of programmes, from Arts omnibus to specialized programmes in Music Technology and others. Combinations with sciences seem to be on the increase, and there was also an increase in the intake for the European Studies programme this year.

  5. Current trends in German studiesUniversities The numbers for the B.A. German have slightly gone up and Law as well as Science and German are doing quite well. * B.A. and B.A. (International) - Beginners and Advanced Level * BComm. (International) with German - Beginners and Advanced Level * German for Law students * German for Biotechnology & Science students * German for Engineering students * MA International Contemporary Literatures and Media * MA German * MA in Advanced Language Skills * MA Translation Studies * Diploma in German (Evening)
