Research collaborations • College of Engineering point of contact with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research on: • Negotiation of standard and master sponsored research agreements • Technology protection and licensing (Office of Technology Management) • Research Park and Incubator • Start-up services organization (Illinois Ventures) • College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board • Being revamped for research collaboration focus

Research collaborations • Development of large federal contracts • Center proposal development and management support • Industry partnership plans: affiliate programs and industry advisory boards • Intellectual property agreements • Recent success: NSF Nanoscale Manufacturing Center • $12.5 M over five years with potential for renewal • One of only two awarded nationally in FY04 • Current focus: Information Trust Institute • College-wide effort involving faculty from several departments • Developing a unique plan with strong industry participation

Future employees • Engineering Career Services Office • Placement Office • Operates two, nine-week on-campus interview schedules annually • Over 1,900 students use the services of this office • New, dedicated interview facilities (39 interview rooms) available next Fall • Work Experience Programs • Co-op program • Semester internships

Professional development • Office of Continuing Engineering Education • Works with faculty and Departments to develop, capture and offer on-line education programs • 26 courses offered during current semester • Certificate programs (~3 units each) also available • Telecommunications and Signal Processing • Integrated Circuits • Power and Energy Systems • Strategic Technology Management
