4. John Logie Baird • He is most famous for inventing the television signal • He had many inventions and in 1926 he was the first person to send live TV pictures. • He was born in Helensburgh in1888 and went to Strathclyde University • He also worked on developing radio signals and colour TV

Robert Burns • Famous world wide for his poems he is known as Scotland’s national poet. • He wrote Auld Lang Syne which is sung around the world on New Years Eve. • He was born in Alloway in Aryshire 1759 the son of a farmer. • Even though he was poor and had to work hard on the farm he studied hard and became a famous poet. His poems are still published in many languages.

William Wallace • William is a famous Scottish hero who led the scots army in the Wars of Independence • He was born in Elderslie in Renfrew • He was guardian of Scotland after The Battle of Stirling in 1297 and helped with the Declaration of Independence • He was captured after the Battle of Falkirk and executed by King Edward1st of England in 1305
