  3. What is a DVD? • A DVD is a new data storage standard, just like a VHS video tape is a storage standard • A single layer DVD stores about seven times more information than a CD. • This is enough data to hold up to 133 minutes of high resolution video

  4. How does a DVD work? • Data is recorded onto the DVD surface as a long spiral. • 0s and 1s are stored on the surface using a laser which makes ‘bumps’ on the surface Pictures from http://www.howstuffworks.com
