If they need someone to work Friday nights and you are only available on Wednesday nights, they aren’t going to hire you. So, The more you are available, the better your chances of being hired 

  36. 1. Sometimes the only question you will see is: DATE AVAILABLE:___________ This means the date you are available to BEGIN working. You can either write the date (6/20/14) Or ASAP

  37. In the “Availability” section of an application you will usually see a table that you are required to fill out. It will look something like the one below.

  38. Sometimes they look a little different

  39. Remember, According to the Child Labor Law, 2. You can’t work during school hours, before7 am, Or after 7 pm during the school year. 3. You can’t work before 7 am, or after 9 pm over the summer.

  40. 4. Even though you can’t work for more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week (summer) you can be available to work as much as possible.

  41. You will simply fill in each block with the hours that you are available. For example, if you are available every day from 7 am to 9 pm, that would be a total of 98 hours in the week. Of course you can’t work that many, but the boss will choose your work hours from the ones you are available. So, if you are available from 7-9, he might put you on the schedule for 7 am-1 pm. *Remember, the more you are available, the better your chances of getting the job.

  42. 5. If you are available at any time, any day you can simply write that across the entire table – just remember to keep it neat! ANYTIME Fill in the chart for #5

  43. 6. If you are only available at certain times, like 11 am-6 pm, but you are available everyday, you can use arrows instead of writing the times in each box. Fill in the chart for #6

  44. 7. If there is a day that you are not available at all you can put an “X” over the whole block for that day. * Remember, the more you are available, the better your chances of getting the job! Fill in the chart for #7

  45. 8. Fill in the chart with the hours you might be available to work this summer
