  4. Example A nacho recipe calls for 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and 1/3 cup jalapeño cheese. Find the total amount of cheese in the recipe. Total amount of cheese = cheddar + jalapeno The total amount of cheese is 5/6 of a cup.

  5. Example Sony recently purchased a small camcorder. It measures 5 inches by 2 ½ inches by 1 ¾ inches and can store 30 minutes of moving images. Find the volume of a box with these dimensions. Volume = length  width  height
